iki vs siri recap

Siri Recap remembers what you heard. IKI remembers what you kept.

Apple’s Siri Recap turns conversations into short summaries on Apple Watch. IKI’s Recap counts what you saved. They answer different questions. Here’s how they differ and where they meet.

Siri Recap, shown on September 9 for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, writes brief, high-level summaries of conversations you choose to capture, in the Siri app. By design it doesn’t produce a transcript or identify who said what, and summaries delete themselves after seven days unless you save or export them. It arrives in beta later this year, in English first. IKI’s Recap is about your library: what you saved today or this week, what it was about and the items themselves, counted on the phone, with nothing expiring. When you need a conversation kept in full, an IKI voice note keeps the audio and a full transcript as files.

credit where it’s due

Where Siri Recap wins.

Hands-free

It works from your wrist while you talk. There’s no phone in hand and nothing to start.

Built into the system

No app to open. Recaps sit in the Siri app and export to Notes or Journal.

Private by Apple’s design

The audio isn’t kept. Only the summary is, and only for a week unless you save it.

moving over

How to move over.

  1. 1They don’t compete for the same moment. Use Siri Recap for the gist of a conversation.
  2. 2When a recap is worth keeping, export it and share it into IKI. It becomes a file that doesn’t expire, and it shows up in IKI’s own Recap.
  3. 3For a conversation you need word for word, record a voice note in IKI, with everyone’s consent.

Start with one save.

It’s free to start, and every save is a file you own.
